Last Friday I had my first surf lesson in San Diego after living here on and off for a decade and a half.  I had always wanted to learn, and to my surprise I was given the gift of a private lesson for my 35th birthday.  A little nervous because after years of collegiate sports and surgeries to fix the punishment I had done to my body, I'm not quite as agile as I once was...Nicholas walked up to me, greeted me in a very friendly manner, taught me more than I could have ever imagined...not just how to stand up on the board, although he taught that too, but how the tide speaks, what it says, and why it says it...I learned a ton and gained even more respect for mother nature that day.  Nicholas was patient and encouraging and so, so excited when I was able to stand up and actually surf into the shore...He was worth every penny of the lesson and the big tip I gave him after...

Although I do my research in Northern CA, I cannot wait to get down here again and take another lesson, and you can count on the fact that I will ask for Nicholas personally!
